WHAT are your clothes made of?

The vast majority of today’s clothes are made of fossil fuels – we are wearing, breathing and washing plastics. This means emissions upstream (when the raw material is produced), and plastics / microplastics pollution downstream (as we wear, wash and ‘dispose’ of clothes which last forever not in a good way).

Our garments are made with 100% natural fibers, sourced only from ethical, traceable suppliers known for their environmental stewardship. We also strive to go synthetics- free with our labels and packaging.

How do your clothes get COLOR?

Virtually every garment sold industrially today is treated with and dyed with chemicals, in countries with weak protection of workers and the environment; leading to water / soil / air pollution upstream (when garments are produced), in use (when washed) and downstream (when landfilled or incinerated).

Our garments are made without any chemicals, and without chemical dyes. We use Nature’s dyes – either natural undyed colors, or colors 100% made of plants. We handpick raw materials that are both luxurious and unique.

Where do your clothes END UP?

Many fashion brands want consumers to think they are ‘green’ because a minor part of their collection is using wood pulp or recycled polyester. Truth is, unless they use no synthetics and no conventional dyes, conventional garments are harmful for workers to make, harmful for users to wear, and harmful for the planet to dispose of.

We start with the end – the hardest problem to solve for, the end of life of products we buy. Nature is the ultimate recycler, if you let her do. By producing garments with Nothing in It, we allow the Sirkl of life to take place.

HOW are your clothes made?

The vast majority of today’s clothes are made form rolls of fabric which are cut and sewn. A lot of raw material is wasted upstream to make the roll, then fabric is wasted to cut patterns. Many finished garments will not sell or be returned, generating downstream waste.

Our garments are made with high tech 3D knitting – a bit like 3D printing for clothes. We use whole garment machines, which allow to knit the full garment in one go. Our building block is the yarn, which allows us as close a 1: 1 ratio between what goes in and comes out.

We produce to order. We don’t make clothes inventory that won’t sell; you don’t buy clothes you won’t wear.

HOW MANY clothes are “you”?

The current industry model is to churn a huge amount of garments that are all exact replicas. Constant turnover is sold as choice, but it is hard to feel your individuality when wearing one amongst millions of identical garments. Color choice is often limited and gendered.

Every garment we produce is unique. It is made on demand, one at a time; with natural yarns that have some slight variations of color and feel in them. This builds some randomness in the product, with each garment being slightly different instead of mass standardized.

We offer a range of colors that are not gendered. Women and men can choose from a similar palette of colors in each collection.

WHO made your clothes?

The fashion industry is very opaque by design. Consumers buy a glittery image of bounty, without knowing or acknowledging that extra low prices are possible only by using a (very) young, mostly female workforce in countries with weak ecological and social protections.

We make our garments 100% in the USA, from a boutique factory with a highly skilled and paid workforce. We use high tech machines which virtually eliminate safety risks. Energy comes from sources much cleaner and controlled than overseas factories.
